Reading and Writing Center

At the Iowa Central Reading and Writing Center, instructors and academic assistants are available to help you with any writing assignment for any course. We will provide guidance and feedback at any point of the writing process, from brainstorming and organizing your ideas to polishing your final draft. We can help with:

    • Generating topics
    • Crafting thesis statements
    • Organizing information
    • Integrating research
    • Citing evidence
    • Formatting documents
    • Revising first drafts
    • Proofreading grammar, punctuation, and mechanics

When you come to the Reading and Writing Center, please bring the following:

    • Any in-progress work (pre-writing, research, and/or an essay draft)
    • The assignment sheet, rubric, and any notes regarding your writing task
    • A list of your questions, concerns, and/or frustrations

Because course schedules change each semester, the Reading and Writing Center hours are dictated by instructor availability; a new schedule is shared with students each semester.
