Medical Office Management I

This course presents legal implications and ethical considerations pertaining to heath care. Basic administrative procedures performed in ambulatory health care settings are introduced to provide medical assistant students with a foundation for continued studies of the administrative duties relevant to the profession. The course encourages the student to demonstrate critical thinking based on knowledge of academic subject matter required for competence in the medical assisting profession. Students will learn to incorporate the cognitive knowledge in performance of the psychomotor and affective domains in their practice as medical assistants in providing patient care. This course is the first course of a two-semester sequence.
