Iowa Central Multicultural Student UnionMulticultural Student Union (MSU)

Open to all Iowa Central students who are interested in taking a “hands on” approach to gaining awareness of a variety of issues such as age, language, race/ethnicity, sexual/gender identity, ability, and socioeconomic  status, and who wish to see “full and equal participation of all groups in a society that is mutually shaped to meet their needs,” (Adams, Bell, & Griffin, 2007). The goals of this group is to both educate and be educated, but more importantly, to be active agents of change in the Iowa Central and Fort Dodge communities.

MSU Goals

MSU Objectives

Events

What this group strives to do is schedule three on-campus Social Justice Seminars each semester to actively involve the campus community in a social and educational event. In addition, we will schedule three off-campus ICCC Give Back events which are meant to get ICCC students involved within the Fort Dodge community doing some type of community service.  All of these events will be scheduled by the students.

Meetings

There will be roughly six meetings each semester, one every other week. The dates will be posted on this website below but also listed on the MSU bulletin board in the Library building, on Dr. King’s office door (Library 108I), and in several other locations on campus.
If your schedule does not allow you to attend meetings but you still want to be involved, get your email address on the email list so you can be kept in the loop. Your help will be needed at Social Justice Seminars and ICCC Give Back events, as well as keeping the campus informed of MSU  happenings.
