Night Classes |
Night classes take finals on meeting night (refer to #6 below) |
Procedures regarding Finals Week:
- This schedule is mandatory for all arts and sciences courses. Instructors in other areas have the option of using this schedule.
- All instructors must administer an exam and/or other meaningful assessment activity or activities which utilize the allotted time period (1-½ hours) for a minimum of an hour for the average student.
- Finals are to be administered per the first class meeting day of the week regardless of the number of days each week that the class meets.
- No final will be administered before its scheduled time; however, any student scheduled for more than two exams on a given day, or at the same time, will take the exam in the course listed last alphabetically by course prefix during the scheduled exam time. It will be up to the student and instructor in the course listed first alphabetically to arrange another exam time, if needed.
- Final exams will be held in the regular classroom in which the course is now being taught.
- Evening classes will give final exams during the last week beginning the night of Friday, April 27, 2012.
- Instructors will post their schedule for finals week at their office area and communicate their schedule verbally or in printed format to students by Friday, April 27, 2012.
- If one of the exams cannot be taken due to inclement weather, the exam will be taken at the same scheduled time on the test scheduling conflict day, Friday, May 4, 2012, or at the discretion of the instructor during the final exam week.
- All distance education course (ICN, ICTN, Virtual, On-line, FlexNet and/or GSS) final exam dates and times can be found in the course syllabus.
- ALL students are required to take an exam or a meaningful assessment activity per the above procedures.
- Usage of the test scheduling conflict day should be initiated by the instructor for any test conflicts. This day will also be utilized for any weather cancellations.
- If a student has an emergency situation which would cause them to miss a final, the student needs to notify the instructor in advance of the final date and time and make advance arrangements with the appropriate Dean and Vice President of Instruction.
- If students do not attend their final(s) on the scheduled dates and times due to an extreme circumstance, they will not be allowed to makeup the final(s) missed unless the appropriate Dean and Vice President of Instruction determine in their discretion that there is good cause. Such permission is very rarely given.
