Fire Service Administration

Associate in Applied Science Degree (AAS)
Iowa Central Community College’s Fire Service Administration program is an Associate in Applied Science degree that is designed to allow current firefighters to gain college credit for courses completed from the Iowa Fire Service Training Bureau (FSTB), the National Fire Academy (NFA) and complete an Associate of Applied Science degree.  The program builds on the courses completed through the FSTB and NFA and includes general education courses to facilitate pursuit of a baccalaureate degree, with additional management and criminal justice courses round out the program. 

Courses/Program Requirements
Iowa Central  provides the general education courses via the internet and/or on campus courses.  The additional 24 credits required for the program within the discipline must be completed with the Fire Service Training Bureau (FSTB) and/or the National Fire Academy (NFA).  These courses are offered at various locations and times throughout the year.  Iowa Central will not be offering the 24 credits since they are offered through these two public organizations.

Admissions Criteria
To apply for admissions for the Fire Service Administration program, student must complete the application for admissions.  The application can be completed via the web on the college’s website.  (can we link the app on the left or here????)  All students must also have a placement test on file before enrolling into any math or English courses.  Iowa Central allows each of the following as placement tests: ACT, SAT, Accuplacer, and COMPASS.  The COMPASS test is offered to students for free on each of the college campuses of Fort Dodge, Storm Lake, and Webster City.
