The Art Department provides a problem solving structure in which students can explore ideas, enhance visual perception and develop creative thinking skills. Students will acquire basic visual vocabulary, an understanding of the “story” of art and an appreciation of the contribution of artists to the fabric of society.

Art classes at Iowa Central are designed to provide a complete curriculum for art majors planning to transfer into a four-year art program, as well as exploratory courses designed for the non-art major. To succeed in art, students need an active imagination, a curious mind and perseverance to acquire the skills relevant to the design process. Students planning to major in art should enroll in a variety of art courses offered at Iowa Central.
