FORT DODGE - The outfield of the Iowa Central softball field will be transformed into a landing pad for the Mercy North helicopter as part of the Iowa Central EMS program and the Region 5 Haz-Mat team’s training courses that will be occurring that day. The Mercy North helicopter is expected to land on the softball field shortly before 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19. The landing time will be dependent upon the helicopter’s need for emergencies.
The Haz-Mat team will be doing a presentation for the Iowa Central EMS program earlier in the morning. The helicopter landing will be used as a training tool for the Iowa Central EMS program. In addition, a Mercy North staff member will be giving a ground safety course for the students in the program and training them while they set up the landing area for the helicopter.
