Menu Announced for New Dinner Theatre Option for Iowa Central’s musical presentation—The Secret Garden

Director of Theatre, Teresa Jackson, is excited about the new concept Iowa Central is adding to their spring performance schedule. Her brainstorm was to combine an evening of musical theatre with a unique dining experience. Joining forces with Chef Michael Hirst and his Culinary Arts program, patrons can savor a four-course meal served right on the main campus in the Hanson Center—which is adjacent to Decker Auditorium—and then merely walk the hallway to their reserved seats for The Secret Garden. The combined cost for the dinner and the show will be $25. The dining space is limited to 100 per night, so reservations do need to be made in advance by February 29. Dinner will be served starting at 5:30 with the following menu for each of the three evening performances:
- Rich Tomato and basil soup with Grilled Cheese Croutons
- Secret Garden Salad Spring mix watercress and fresh herbs with avocado and citrus dressing
- Pan roasted chicken breast with baby root vegetables, fondant potatoes and pan juices.
- Lemon Meringue pie with vanilla crème fraiche
The other option for dining will be to reserve a ticket for a buffet meal served in the newly remodeled Triton Café. Cost for this dinner and show ticket will be $15 with reservations made by February 29 as well.
For those not wishing to eat on campus, show tickets remain $10 for adults and $5 for students, with Iowa Central faculty, staff and students attending for free with an ID. Tickets can be reserved ahead of time or purchased at the door.
