The Social Problems class at Iowa Central Community College will be doing a Service Learning Project. There are five different classes involved in this project. On Friday, October 26th, 2012, the classes will be sleeping outside for the evening, and will "Think Inside the Box." The project will be starting at 3:00 p.m. Friday and finishing at 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning. This project is being done to raise awareness, money, and supplies for the Beacon of Hope men's shelter, located in Fort Dodge, IA.

All donations will be given to the Beacon of Hope Shelter in Fort Dodge to assist with their many needs. The Beacon of Hope Shelter is a shelter for men in Fort Dodge and the surrounding area. They do not accept government funds and run completely on donations. Any monetary donations that can be made are greatly appreciated and can be listed as a charitable donation when completing this year's taxes. Donations may be dropped off at Iowa Central Community College on Friday, October 26th, between 3:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 27th 5:30 a.m. and given directly to the group and/or the director of Beacon of Hope, Mr. Steve Roe and/or Chaplain Eric Howard.

This project will consist of raising awareness, supplies, and donations by spending the evening outside for a total of 14 1/2 hours. With approximately 150+ participants a total of over 6,225 hours will be contributed directly toward community action.
