General Summary of Duties
Serve as Chief Academic Officer for Iowa Central Community College and as a member of the President’s cabinet. Provide leadership to and oversight of the Academic Deans, Library Services, Information Services, Technology Team, Institutional Effectiveness and ABE/GED Coordinator.
1. Constant (67-100%)
- Provide leadership in strategic and operational planning to the Deans, center directors, and departments within the academic divisions.
- Develop, recommend, and implement strategic planning goals, objectives, operating policies, and procedures within the academic divisions.
- Plan for student enrollment and facilities growth, new program development, new partnerships, and other initiatives for the college in cooperation with other college administrators.
- Represent Iowa Central to constituents in the community: business leaders, K-12 representatives, college and university leaders, state agencies, funding agencies, statewide committees and others.
- Supervise staff; recommend personnel actions related to hiring, firing, compensation, and performance evaluation. Administer personnel and related policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Serve on a variety of internal and external committees to carry out the College's mission, philosophy, goals and objectives.
- Direct and lead the development, delivery, assessment, and evaluation of quality instruction.
- Direct the development of new programs, and oversee the evaluation and revision of current programs within the academic divisions.
- Attend college-sponsored activities
2. Frequent (34-66%)
- Lead departments in the planning and decision making process for the academic division of the college.
- Resolve conflicts, problems, and concerns with students and faculty.
- Oversee all institutional assessment and accreditation activities. Provide leadership for the institution-wide NCA Higher Learning Commission accreditation and integrate with the Iowa Department of Education assessment processes, including the program evaluation and curriculum procedures.
- Oversee the preparation of reports for the president and federal, state and local agencies as required.
- Oversee and monitor departmental budgets.
- Assist in securing funding for educational programming (i.e. Carl Perkins, Accelerated Career Education, Federal Grants).
3. Occasional (10-33%)
- Assist in assuring the establishment and functioning of all program advisory committees.
- Conduct and/or approve faculty and staff evaluations in accordance with established policies.
- Participate in local, state and national professional development activities that support the position.
- Facilitate assessment of equipment needs within instructional budget.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Position involves constant (67-100%) talking to or listening to persons over the phone or in person; frequent (34-66%) sitting in an office, utilizing computer equipment, viewing a computer screen or reading; and travel to on and off-campus facilities; and occasional (10-33%) stooping, kneeling, carrying, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, grasping, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Master’s degree in education, or in an academic discipline or appropriate field.
- Five years of progressively responsible administrative experience including a minimum of three years of education administration involving supervision, budget management, and the development of academic programs at a community college.
- Two years teaching at the postsecondary level.
- Knowledge of current software applications.
Desirable:
- Doctorate in higher education or related field.
- Ability to work with colleges/universities in the development and administration of articulated programs.
