Admissions and Retention Requirements

A. High School Graduate


  • High School cumulative G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher - provide transcript
  • Submit proof of an ACT score of at least 25 in reading and 25 in writing
  • STEMM majors – ALEKS score of 46 or higher. Non-STEMM majors – ALEKS score of 30 or higher.
  • Complete an application essay
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher/recent employer

B. College transfer or current Iowa Central Community College student


  • Complete nine (9) college credits at any regionally accredited college with a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.5 and provide official transcript
  • Complete one college math and one college English class (example: ENG-101, MAT-102)
  • Complete an application essay
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from a college professor

Retention Requirements


  • Maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher and remain in good academic standing
  • Move to honors probation for one semester if term G.P.A. falls below 3.5
  • Regain entry into Honors Program if G.P.A. is restored the subsequent semester; if not, may reapply for admission when restored or appeal

I chose Iowa Central because both of my parents came here and absolutely loved the environment. I was able to be a part of so many programs at once which isn't offered at other colleges. I knew right away after visiting that it would be a great school where I could better myself as a student and as an athlete.
