FORT DODGE - Over 300 eighth graders from Phillips Middle School, St. Edmonds and Eagle Grove visited Iowa Central on Thursday, Oct. 25, to check out all of the different vocational programs that the school offers.

Students had a chance to visit with instructors and view displays from all of the business and industrial technology programs inside Hodges Fieldhouse in the morning. Students then listened to introduction speeches from Tom Beneke, Iowa Central’s Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Development, as well as current Iowa Central students that are alumni of the visiting middle schools.

After the introductions, the students got to choose one of nine Career Clusters. These clusters were divided by different programs that Iowa Central offers. Students could choose to attend clusters in Computer Technology, Health Science, Automotive, Manufacturing, Agricultural Sciences, Protective Services, Food Services, Building Trades or Business. Each group met with instructors, got a tour of the classrooms and participated in engaging classroom activities.

Students finished the day with lunch in the cafeteria and a campus tour.
