The Medical Laboratory Technician Program ended the 2014-2015 school year July 16, 2015. Students began preparation for the American Society of Clinical Pathologists Board of Certification Exam in May knowing they would face the task in late July early August. Only a few area hospitals will allow students to work as Laboratory Technicians without certification, making exam preparation and passing crucial to using the AAS degree earned at Iowa Central Community College. Students work with the program coordinator to register for the exam and then set the test date for a time that works best for them. Students travel to a Pearson testing center, typically Omaha, Marshalltown, or Des Moines to take the test. This year the Medical Laboratory Technician Program is proud to announce a 100% pass rate on the Board of Certification Exam. The national average for this year has not been released but the typical national average is around 75-78%. Congratulations to the students on their hard work and dedication!
