The Iowa Central Community College Percussion Ensemble has accepted an invitation to perform as part of the 2016 Iowa Days of Percussion.
The 2016 Iowa Days of Percussion will take place March 4-5, 2016, at the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA. The two days feature an international line-up of percussionists from the USA, Canada, Hungary, Luxembourg, Italy, Denmark, France, and the Ukraine! The event will include clinics and performances geared to middle and high school students and directors, college/university students, directors and professional percussionists.
The morning of Saturday March 5 will feature performances of ensembles at the college/university level. Percussion ensembles from the University of Northern Iowa, Iowa Central Community College, the University of Iowa, and Iowa State University will each perform on stage in the Great Hall of the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. Designed to echo the great European opera houses, the Great Hall seats up to 1,680 on three levels, complete with opera boxes. Hosting more than 300 performances each year, the GBPAC showcases the world’s finest arts, ensembles of the UNI School of Music, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony and many other regional events.
The Iowa Days of Percussion are presented by the Iowa Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society. Iowa Central’s performance time is 9am on the Saturday morning schedule. All events are free and open to the public with the exception of the Saturday evening Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony concert featuring Maraca2!
I felt right at home when I came to visit Iowa Central.
