Culinary Program Competes at Upper Midwest Bakers Competition

This weekend Iowa Central took three students from the Iowa Central Baking program to the Upper Midwest Bakers Association in St. Cloud Minnesota. They went competed for titles among bakeries all over the upper Midwest. At this competition there are ladies and gentleman who have been on cake wars, cupcake wars and other various television shows. They meet hall of fame bakers and talented food representatives from all over the Midwest. Three baking students and two instructors competed. Student Jacob Meeske won the $500.00 Scholarship to which he says he will use for scuba diving school to be a chef on a cruise ship. He also won silver awards for two breads in the build a bread category. Student Hanna Campbell won bronze for the Carrot Cake category and the bronze for the cupcake category. Instructor Chef Paula Vance won bronze for the quick bread category. Adjunct Instructor Chef Christina won Gold in the Novelty Specialty category. They all learned to much and would like to thank all at Iowa Central for the enormous support! Please congratulate and talk a little to the students for all of their hard work of continuous baking to achieving their goals! I have attached some photos of the trip and the baked goods.
