Krystal (McKinney) Davidson was not sure what she wanted to do after graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1997.
That is when Iowa Central Community College came into the vision for Davidson.
"I wasn't really sure the direction I wanted to take out of high school," Davidson said. "Iowa Central seemed like the smart place for me to start and explore my opportunities."
Davidson, who graduated from Iowa Central in 2000, found her life-long career and passion in the medical field through the radiology program.
"After finishing my first year at Iowa Central, I decided I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field and was accepted into the radiography program," she said. "Our group in the program from staff, to the students were all very supportive of one another.
"We were like a small family."
She continued her education path in ultrasound, becoming a sonographer. For the past 11 years, Davidson has worked at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in that position.
"I work with an amazing group of people at HCMH," she said. "Our staff is caring, compassionate and very knowledgeable. We make a great team."
Davidson and her husband, Fort Dodge Middle School principal Aaron Davidson, have three children. Jace is currently a member of the Iowa Central baseball team, Christian will be a high school senior in the fall and Taytum a high school freshman.
"My family is my priority," she said. "HCMH has always allowed me the flexibility to be a wife and mother first. Balancing work and family is the key to a strong family foundation so that you can also have a successful career.
"I am so blessed to have been able to."
The coaches inspire me every day, not just to be a good dancer, but to be a better person, teammate, captain, and student. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else other than Iowa Central.
