Triton Hall of Fame Seeking Nominations for 2023 Class

The Iowa Central Community College Triton Hall of Fame Committee is currently seeking nominations for the 2023 class of inductees.

The Triton Hall of Fame honors Distinguished Alumni, Distinguished Faculty and Staff, Triton Humanitarians, Triton Athletes and Triton Athletic Teams during the Hall of Fame Ceremony and Banquet. The annual Hall of Fame induction, set for Saturday October 14, is a celebration to recognize individuals, teams and athletes whose efforts and accomplishments have made a lasting impact on Iowa Central, their communities or their professions.

Awards are presented in the following areas.

  • Triton Humanitarian Award

The Humanitarian Award is the highest honor given by Iowa Central. This award honors a person who has provided leadership or meritorious service to Iowa Central Community College on the Eagle Grove campus, Webster City campus, or Fort Dodge campus (formerly known as Junior Colleges) and exemplifies the College’s strong commitment to excellence. To be eligible for the Humanitarian Award, individuals must meet three of the following criteria: Demonstrates high standards of integrity and character, demonstrates achievement in his/her respected vocation or life’s work, demonstrates strong support of Iowa Central through contributions: either financial, material or service of time and talent, through dedication and character, has inspired others to higher achievement; and/or demonstrates leadership/service to his/her home community.

 

  • Distinguished Alumni Award

The Distinguished Alumni Award is given to alumni of Iowa Central Community College, Fort Dodge Junior College, Eagle Grove Junior College or Webster City Junior College. This award honors alumni who are recognized for preeminent contributions to their professions and/or community. To be eligible for induction as distinguished alumni the graduate must meet the following criteria: Been locally, nationally, or internationally recognized for contributions to his/her profession or community and must be removed from Iowa Central for a minimum of five years. Current members of the faculty, staff, board of directors and awards committee are ineligible to receive this award.

 

  • Distinguished Faculty and Staff Award

The Distinguished Faculty and Staff Award honors a former faculty or staff member who has provided leadership to Iowa Central Community College, Fort Dodge Junior College, Eagle Grove Junior College or Webster City Junior College and exemplifies the college’s strong commitment to providing excellent educational opportunities inside and outside of the classroom. In addition to formerly serving as a faculty or staff member, nominees must  meet at least three of the following criteria: Possesses a distinguished record of teaching effectiveness inside and outside of the classroom, demonstrates strong support of Iowa Central and the surrounding community through educational leadership or service, has inspired students and other educators to high achievement through dedication and character, used creativity and innovation to engage and challenge students, and/or demonstrates a commitment to life-long learning. Current members of the faculty, staff, board of directors and awards committee are ineligible to receive this award.

 

  • Triton Athletic Award

In celebration of its historic athletic past, Iowa Central offers the Triton Athletic Award. It honors significant contributions of former Triton Athletes, coaches, administrators and supporters to the success of Iowa Central Community College, Fort Dodge Junior College, Eagle Grove Junior College and Webster City Junior College athletics. To be eligible for the Triton Athletic Award nominees must meet one of the following criteria: Coached and gained acclaim for his/her program, Iowa Central and the community; served as an administrator and demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to Iowa Central’s athletic programs, and/or made a considerable commitment to the betterment of athletics at Iowa Central. Former athletes must have been removed from Iowa Central for a minimum of five years. Coaches and administrators must have been officially removed from Iowa Central at least two years.

 

  • Triton Athletic Team Award

The purpose of the Athletic Team Award is to honor significant contributions of a former Triton athletic team which  meets the following criteria: Be seven full seasons following the completion of the season for which they have been nominated, have distinguished themselves on the playing field (outstanding win-loss record, league championship, or NJCAA Tournament participation) and brought prestige to Iowa Central in and out of the athletic area.

 

 There are no restrictions on who can submit nominations. Those nominating must be identified and secure the permission of the nominee. The nominator must also secure two additional letters of recommendation to be submitted to the Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations. Nomination forms can be found online at https://www.iowacentral.edu/foundation/hof.asp or can be picked up at the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. Nominations are due Thursday, June 15.
