The Iowa Central Dance Team is looking to bring home a fifth-straight state championship this Friday as they travel to Des Moines to compete at the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association’s 48th Annual State Dance Team Championships.
The Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Championships is a three-day event held at Hy-Vee Hall and Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, bringing together hundreds of performances from Iowa high schools, community colleges, private colleges, and state universities. It is the largest state dance competition in the country. Iowa’s competition is unique in that it offers a collegiate category that is separated into divisions to guarantee that each college or university will only compete against other schools similar in size.
Iowa Central will be performing in three categories on Friday afternoon: Community College Hip-Hop, Community College Jazz and Community College Pom. Hip Hop will perform at 12:45 p.m., Jazz will perform at 1:57 p.m. and Pom will perform at 4:04 p.m. Each performance will take place at Wells Fargo Arena.
Entry fee for spectators is $15 per person and includes access to all single-day performances.
I chose Iowa Central because I loved the campus environment. Everyone was so welcoming. The softball team made it feel like a home away from home.
