Iowa Central’s annual Radiologic Technology Pinning Ceremony, which honors our students completing the Radiologic Technology program, was held Tuesday, July 16th in the Bioscience and Health Sciences Building on the Fort Dodge Campus.

Radiologic Technology Program Coordinator, Lindsay Heffernan, opened the ceremony with a welcome to all graduates, families, and friends before recognizing the 2024 graduates for their hard work – over 1800 clinical hours, 180 hours in the lab, and over 600 hours in the classroom. “Enjoy the little things. When you start realizing it is the little things in life that make it good, that’s when you start living and enjoying.”

Chosen by her fellow graduates to give a student response, Michaelah Petrowiak opened with “After two years of hard work and 1800 hours of clinical we move forward from the introduction of “x-ray student” to introducing ourselves as “Radiologic Technologists!” before closing with “As we go out into the real world and think about the memories we have shared together, we should also reflect on all of our accomplishments because this program was not easy, but so rewarding.”

Following Petrowiak’s address was the presentation of the Academic Excellence Award (Cameryn Young), Student Choice Award (Brynn Heideman), Clinical Excellence Award (Halle Hemer), and the Excellence in Clinical Preceptor Award (Jim Schwaller, St. Anthony Regional Hospital, Carroll).

After the pinning of the eighteen graduates, the ceremony closed with a reception for all attendees.
