Students in the Iowa Central Diesel Technology and Auto Restoration programs were awarded scholarships from the WC Cruisers recently.

The scholarships were presented to 9 students. The students stepped up to volunteer at the WC Cruisers annual car show event, Cruise to the Woods which earned them a scholarship. “Parking and moving hundreds of cars for this event is a major undertaking and we wouldn’t be able to host the event without the student volunteers,” commented Rachel Austin, board member of WC Cruisers. Cruise to the Woods, which is Iowa’s largest car cruise show featuring over 1,300 cars is held each fall. The students help park and direct the cars as they enter the event at the Lizard Creek Ranch west of Fort Dodge.

Students receiving scholarships are left to right: Carter Essing of Humboldt, Isaiah Ihrig of Boxholm, Kade Schlegel of Fort Dodge, Hayden Hansen of Humboldt, Bryce Bergquist of Lohrville, Shane Gries of Sioux City, Jake Lenz of Manson, Abigail Peterson of Peterson, and Aidryk Terwilliger of Eagle Grove.

A total of $3,000 was presented to the students by WC Cruisers Board Member Rachel Austin (pictured at far right) and Ken Hohensee.
