Iowa Central Dental Clinic Hosts Head Start for Children's Dental Health Month

Smiles were seen by all as children from Head Start visited the Iowa Central Dental Clinic, where both students and young patients enjoyed a day focused on oral health. The visit was part of Children’s Dental Health Month, a national initiative celebrated each February to promote early dental care and hygiene habits among children.

During the event, Iowa Central Dental Hygiene students provided education on proper brushing and flossing techniques to 82 children, helping them understand the importance of maintaining a healthy smile. In addition to education, the students conducted screenings and identified 21 cases requiring urgent dental care, ensuring those children received referrals for necessary treatment.

By participating in this initiative, Iowa Central continues our commitment to community health and hands-on student learning. Events like this not only benefit the children in our community but also provide valuable experience for our future dental professionals.
