Iowa Central's MLT Program Celebrates 11 Years of a 100% Board Pass Rate

For the 11th consecutive year, Iowa Central Community College's Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program is celebrating an incredible achievement - a 100% pass rate on the national Board of Certification Exam administered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).

This milestone reflects the dedication of Iowa Central students, the commitment of our faculty, and the strength of a program that prepares graduates for careers that are vital to modern healthcare!

Medical Laboratory Technicians may not always be visible to patients, but their work has a direct and powerful impact on patient care. From a simple blood glucose test to complex screenings for conditions like HIV and cancer, MLTs provide critical date that doctors and nurses rely on when making treatment decisions.

MLTs collect and analyze blood, urine, and other body fluids using advanced technology and precision instruments. Their ability to work quickly, accurately, and with great attention to detail often makes the difference in how soon a patient receives answers and the care they need.
