Iowa Central Community College celebrated the kickoff of its new giving circle, 100 Tritons Who Care, with a successful first meeting on September 30 at Willow Ridge in Fort Dodge.

The evening began with a social hour, followed by presentations from three Iowa Central departments: scholarships, dental hygiene, and veterinary technology. Each department representative had five minutes to share their project proposal with the group. After thoughtful consideration, attendees cast their ballots, and the Veterinary Technology program received the most votes. Through the generosity of members, the program will now receive funding support from the group’s donations.

“We are grateful for the generosity of our inaugural group of 100 Tritons Who Care,” said Mary Ludwig, executive director of development and alumni relations. “We enjoyed a wonderful evening together and heard presentations from three different Iowa Central departments. The Vet Tech program received the most votes from our group and will be awarded the donations.”

The 100 Tritons Who Care initiative invites Iowa Central alumni and supporters to gather twice a year—once in the spring and once in the fall—to support meaningful projects at the college. Each member contributes $100 per meeting, and with every 100 participants, $10,000 is raised for the winning project.

“It’s a fun time to be among fellow Iowa Central Alumni and friends while joining together to support an important project at the college,” Ludwig added. “We hope more alumni and friends will join us for our next event in the spring of 2026.”

The event concluded with dinner, catered by Iowa Central’s Culinary Arts department.

Ludwig also expressed appreciation for the committee members who helped launch the initiative: Larry McLuckie, Judge Brown, Nancy Crimmins, Leah Glasgo, Collete Bertran, Jenny Shivers, and Mary Kay Daniel. “The 100 Tritons Who Care committee is truly committed to supporting Iowa Central. They went above and beyond to start this endeavor, and we’re grateful for their dedication and partnership.”
