Iowa Central Community College does everything it can to support students while they pursue their degree or training. There are several places at the college in Fort Dodge where students can take advantage of Iowa Central’s services and opportunities. We’ve assembled a list to help students navigate what resources are available on campus.
Greehey Family Student Success Center
As the latest addition to the Iowa Central campus in Fort Dodge, the Greehey Family Student Success Center acts as a hub for a host of student-related services. Undergraduates can find the following offices at the Success Center:
- Business office
- Financial aid
- Student advising
- Enrollment services
- Veterans services
- Distance learning
Student Support Services Building
The Student Support Service building houses the Help Desk. Iowa Central's Help Desk addresses any technical problems that students are experiencing with computers or school-related accounts.
Student Resource Center
Are you looking for a place to relax and study on campus? Well, the Student Resource Center (SRC) is the place to learn and have fun. The large, open commons area of the SRC boasts plenty of seating and table space for studying and hanging out. Use some downtime to play pool or ping pong with friends as well. Iowa Central also utilizes this space for hosting events such as comedians, hypnotists, and live music. Students can grab a quick bite to eat at the Triton Zone for some fuel before class.
Academic Resource Center
Located in the same complex as the SRC, the Academic Resource Center (ARC) provides all of the academic resources that students need to succeed. Areas of support include the following:
- Academic assistance
- Disability accommodations
- Reading and writing assistance
- Supplemental instruction
- Second language assistance
- Access to the digital library
Liberal Arts Building
While the Liberal Arts building has plenty of classrooms for students to hone their creativity with its art and photography studios, the building is also where undergraduates can access TRIO Student Support Services. TRIO is a program that is designed to help students stay on the path to success. Services include the following (at no cost to students):
- Academic & career advising
- Financial aid assistance
- Seminars & workshops
- Referral services
- Cultural & social activities
- Transfer assistance
- Study area
Applied Science and Technology Building
The Applied Science and Technology (AST) building hosts several different programs, from agriculture to the student-run radio station. One service in AST that students may not be aware of is one provided by the Iowa Central Dental Hygiene Clinic. This program offers free dental examination, X-rays, teeth cleaning, and athletic mouth guards. Students can contact the clinic to schedule an appointment by calling 515-574-1327.
AST is also the location of Iowa Central's college nurse and counseling services. Both of these resources are free for enrolled students with the aim to help ensure everyone at the college stays healthy, both mentally and physically. Nurse appointments can be scheduled by calling 515-574-1047, and for counseling, students can call 515-574-1051.
This building also houses the Triton Food Pantry. It is entirely free for students to use and has non-perishable food items. Each Friday, the pantry stocks bread and pastries. Food donations are also accepted. For more information about this program, contact the college nurse or mental health counselor.
Additionally, the college’s career services can be found in the AST building. There, students can access a wide range of career-related resources from locating internship and job opportunities to networking and resume development.
Situated in the Student Resource Center, the Triton Bookstore is the go-to place to purchase books and course supplies. Along with essentials for class, goods such as stamps, college-branded clothing, personal supplies, and more can be found here. Students can also buy many of these items online by going to the Iowa Central Bookstore website.
These are just a few of the major services that Iowa Central provides. For more information about the student services and buildings on the Iowa Central campus in Fort Dodge, Iowa, visit the 2020-2021 Academic Catalog on the college's website.
Diversity is important to me. For people to learn and grow, there must be diversity in the workplace, schools, and sports. That is another reason I wanted to go to Iowa Central; there are so many people here from across the world, all with different backgrounds and life experiences. I saw Iowa Central as an opportunity not only to grow in both academics and in athletics, but also to become a stronger person.
