Ms. Kathy Smith, Iowa Chapter of CMA President, presenting Stacy Johnson with the CMA Award.

News from the Accounting Associate and Numbers at Night Programs at Iowa Central Community College!

Mrs. Stacy J. Johnson, MBA, Faculty member for the Accounting programs at Iowa Central Community college, has earned the prestigious professional designation of Certified Management Accountant (CMA®). Obtaining the CMA® certification is a rigorous journey—candidates must have obtained a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and have two continuous years of professional experience. The CMA measures competency in these advanced skill sets: financial planning, risk analysis, internal controls, and financial decision making. After passing the certification, CMAs must complete 30 hours of CPE credits including two hours of ethics annually and must be an active member of the Institute of Management Accountants.

The central Iowa chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants recently honored Mrs. Johnson at their April 2015 meeting in Johnston, Iowa. Stacy is one of only three individuals in the State of Iowa who have recently obtained the CMA® certification. According to the Institute of Management Accountants, accounting professionals in private industry who have earned the CMA® certification earn on average $34,000 more in annual compensation by adding tremendous value to their organization.

I am grateful for the lifelong friendships I have created at Iowa Central.
