FORT DODGE – Ten Iowa Central Community College students from the Introduction to Disability Services class completed a community service project with Life Works and their Kiwanis Aktion Club on Thursday, April 11.

Students assisted club members with building May baskets and filling the baskets with sweet treats. Later, the group decorated flower pots and planted marigold flower seeds. Additional seed packets were sent home with the club members. A snack was also served. The Kiwanis Aktion Club members stated that the activities were fun and are eager to work with Iowa Central students again.

According to the Aktion Club web site, the Kiwanis Aktion Club is the only service club for adults with disabilities, with more than 11,000 members worldwide. Aktion Club draws its members from various organizations that support individuals with disabilities, as well as other community programs.
