DES MOINES - The Iowa Central women’s dance team capped an impressive weekend at the Iowa State Drill Team Association Competition in Des Moines at the Wells Fargo Arena with a pair of championships and Division I rankings.

The women won the Community College Division for their routines in both the Community College Hip Hop and Jazz Competitions. The Tritons beat out two other teams in the jazz competition and four other programs in the hip hop competition. Iowa Central’s scores in each division were also good enough to earn them a Division I ranking, the highest a program can receive.

“They work really hard all year long and I couldn’t be more proud and happy of my team,” said first year head coach Cassidy Vermeer. “They definitely deserved the honors of state champions in both categories.”
