Alumni and Friends Homecoming packed with activities

FORT DODGE - Iowa Central Community College will be hosting its second annual Alumni and Friends Homecoming Weekend with festivities beginning Saturday, Sept. 24.
A slew of alumni games hosted by the Iowa Central athletic teams kick off the action on Saturday with baseball, softball and women’s basketball beginning at 10:00 a.m. At noon, the Iowa Central men’s soccer team will face ICCAC rival Marshalltown at Harlan Rogers. That afternoon, there will be guided tours of the Fort Dodge campus and new facilities beginning at 4:00 p.m.
Saturday evening will feature the Alumni Banquet. It will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a social hour and silent and live auction in Hodges Fieldhouse. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Mentalist Chris Carter will perform at 8:15 p.m. in Decker Auditorium. The evening will conclude with the induction of Iowa Central’s second annual Triton Hall of Fame class at 8:45 p.m. This year’s Distinguished Alumni Award recipients are Kevin A. Alstott (1970), Hon. Albert Habhab (1948), John C. Johnson (1981), Al Nuness (1967) and Mark J. Smith (1974). The Triton Athletic Award recipients are Ray Cheetany (1998), Dennie Friederichs (1958), Troy Gilroy (2000), Melinda Hippen (1980) and Paul Weltha (1987). The 2011 Triton Humanitarian Award recipient will be long time Iowa Central Board of Trustee member Dr. John E. Hodges.
Tickets for the Alumni Banquet are $40 individually or $75 for a pair. They can be purchased at Bookstore or Alumni Office.
Sunday will feature an Alumni Tailgate in the Dodger Stadium parking lot at 10:00 a.m., building up to the Homecoming Football game against Grand Rapids at 12:00 p.m.
