At Iowa Central, our Professional truck driver training options offer extensive, hands-on training with more driving miles and real-world preparation than typical short-term CDL schools. Each option offers a different pace and funding path, but both lead to the same goal of becoming a confident, safe, job-ready driver.
ELDT Professional Truck Driver Training
Full CDL Training: ZST-206 + ZST-207 (Financial Aid Eligible)
A thorough, hands-on CDL training program with a steady, structured pace. Ideal for students who want more extensive behind the wheel practice and access to Pell grants or other financial aid to help make the training more affordable.
Program Highlights
- Financial Aid (Pell Grant) & additional grants available
Tuition may be fully covered if you qualify - 390 hours (minimum 52 sessions)
- 210 hours of paid On-the-Job Training with your employer
- On-site DOT testing for both the written and pretrip, skils, & driver tests
- Train on both manual & automatic trucks (automatic available by request)
- Housing available
- Classes: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm
- Tuition: $7,000

- August 13 - October 27, 2026
- January 8 - March 25, 2027
- Additional classes launching in 2027
ZST-206 and ZST-207 must be taken together to graduate and qualify for financial aid.
Accelerated ELDT Course (Not currently financial aid eligible)
Our Accelerated CDL Course offers the same comprehensive training as our standard program, delivered in a faster-paced format for those who want to complete training quickly. It’s ideal for students on summer break or individuals balancing work and family schedules.
Program Highlights
- Meets FMCSA ELDT Theory & Behind-the-Wheel standards
- On-site DOT pre-trip, skills and drive testing
- Train on manual & automatic trucks
- Classes: Monday-Thursday, 8:00am to 4:00pm
- Tuition: $5500
- Housing available
- Grants are available that can pay 100% tuition if you qualify. Payment plan is available, must be paid in full to start classes.
