Step 2: Secure Financial Aid

You may qualify for:

Step 3: Get Your CDL Permit (CLP)

---

Before starting behind-the-wheel training, you’ll need your Commercial Learner Permit.
Get a CDL manual from where you get your driver’s license or from Iowa Central.

• You’ll need to take 3 tests
• General knowledge, air brakes, combination vehicle

• Study aids:

You can schedule your permit test at Iowa Central or your local DMV/courthouse.

Step 4: Lock in Your Seat

Classes fill quickly due to limited enrollment and low instructor-to-student ratios.
Secure your spot with a $100 non-refundable, non-transferable seat deposit applied directly toward your tuition when you begin class.

Do You Qualify?

To enroll, students must:

• Be 18+ (Iowa residents) or 21+ (out-of-state)
• Hold a valid driver’s license
• Obtain a Class A CDL permit
• Complete required medical certification (completed while in class for in state, out of state must have before and certify Excepted Interstate).
• Pass drug test
• Speak, read, and comprehend English
