Real Men Sing
Description
We are very excited to invite you to Iowa Central’s first ever REAL MEN SING chorus festival on Saturday, September 21, 2019. This event is part of a nationwide movement to encourage boys and young men to continue to sing.
The plan is to partner with local and surrounding schools, as well as male vocal ensembles such the Fort Dodge Harmony Brigade, to create a one-day choral music festival for young men (grades 5th -12th) as well as college students to promote vocal music, motivate, encourage singing and to create a momentum (jump-start) as we start the 2019-20 school year.
We are pleased to welcome three outstanding conductors to lead our festival ensembles:
- Jonathan Edgeton (Associate Director of Choirs at Urbandale High School): 9-12 Grade Chorus
- Brandon Louis (Director of Vocal Music at Southeast Valley High School): 7-8 Grade Chorus
- Brandon Douglas (Director of Vocal music at the Central Community School): 5-6 Grade Chorus
- Jamie Kelly (Director of Choral Activities at Briar Cliff University): Combined Ensemble
Participation
Each ensemble will learn two pieces during the festival and the day will culminate in a concert at 5:00pm in the Decker Auditorium featuring those ensembles individually and combined plus a special appearance by the Fort Dodge Harmony Brigade. (Admission to the Concert is FREE!)
Music
The music package is included in the registration fee and will be available at the registration desk
Cost
The cost is $20 per student and includes: Festival T-shirt, Festival folder with sheet music, Festival water bottle, and lunch. Directors with singers participating on the festival are invited to attend at no additional cost.
Location
The festival will be held at the Iowa Central campus. The registration desk will be located at the lobby of the Decker Auditorium and you can check in starting at 8:30am

Each registered singer will receive a festival T-Shirt available at the registration desk (Please also wear Blue Jeans for the performance)
