Iowa Central Community College campuses are bustling with new and returning students as the 2024-2025 school year gets underway. "We kick off our welcome back week for students with numerous activities and opportunities for students to meet new people and get to know their instructors," says Dr. Jesse Ulrich, President of Iowa Central Community College. The first day back for the Tritons was Monday, August 26th with two weeks of student activities planned in addition to classes.
With energy and enthusiasm, the faculty and staff are ready to embark on another exciting year. "Across our campuses, we are welcoming 6,000 students. Each student is unique yet shares the common goal of having a better life by earning a degree or certification," says Dr. Ulrich who is an alumni of Iowa Central. As classes resume and campus life buzzes with activity, Iowa Central is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all members of the college community. "We are very intentional in creating opportunities for students to not only learn, but to have the full college experience. Iowa Central's campus offers a mini-university environment, yet we offer small class sizes led by faculty who put students first," remarks Dr. Ulrich.
As part of the college's commitment to student success, Iowa Central has invested in the college's infrastructure and made major building improvements over the last three years. "From technology upgrades to major building expansions. Iowa Central is continuously improving to ensure we continue to be a top community college," notes Dr. Ulrich. Iowa Central is the 5th largest community college in the state of Iowa.
In addition to academic offerings, Iowa Central Community College is also looking forward to a calendar full of engaging events, student activities, and athletic competitions among the thirty-plus collegiate teams. These opportunities for involvement and personal growth are integral to the college experience and contribute to the vibrant campus community. During the first two weeks of the semester, students can enjoy complimentary cookouts, bingo nights, outdoor movies, a hypnotist, art activities, and an evening at Fort Frenzy. The packed schedule gives the students multiple opportunities to meet their fellow students and build new friendships.
The first day of school at Iowa Central Community College marks the beginning of a promising academic year, and the college is eager to see the achievements and successes that lie ahead for its students. With a focus on academic excellence, student support, and community engagement, Iowa Central Community College is primed for a fantastic year of learning and growth. “Iowa Central has a team of 1,200 dedicated faculty, staff, and administration ready to serve our students on their path to a better life,” says Dr. Ulrich. He adds that each employee is dedicated to the college’s purpose. “We want students to come to Iowa Central and finish their degree or certification in the shortest amount of time possible, with the least amount of student loan debt, so they can go on and have a better life. Education is the great equalizer and we are here to support students in every way we can to achieve our purpose.”
I love the late nights in the library studying with friends, sometimes laughing more than studying.
